PAPER: s-RT-MELT for rapid mutation scanning using enzymatic selection and real time DNA-melting: new potential for multiplex genetic analysis

The rapidly growing understanding of human genetic pathways, including those that mediate cancer biology and drug response, leads to an increasing need for extensive and reliable mutation screening on a population or on a single patient basis. Here we describe s-RT-MELT, a novel technology that enables highly expanded enzymatic mutation scanning in human samples for germline or low-level somatic mutations, or for SNP discovery. More…

PAPER: High-throughput functional genomic methods to analyze the effects of dietary lipids

The applications of 'omics' (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics) technologies in nutritional studies have opened new possibilities to understand the effects and the action of different diets both in healthy and diseased states and help to define personalized diets and to develop new drugs that revert or prevent the negative dietary effects. The present review will focus on different high-throughput technologies from the aspects of assessing the effects of dietary fatty acids including cholesterol and polyunsaturated fatty acids. More…

PRESENTATION: Nanoliter Real-Time PCR: Successful Application of BioTrove OpenArray Platform for Molecular Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases.

Rober Slinger, MD FRCPC, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Childrens Hospital of Eastern Ontario, presents his work done using the OpenArray platform. It demonstrates that a human pathogen can be detected and quantified from patient specimens by nanoliter-volume PCR with the BioTrove platform.  This platform has the potential to allow clinical specimens to be tested for multiple infectious agents simultaneously.
