Validation of expression-based biomarkers is one of the most common uses of qPCR. Using OpenArray to validate microarray hits allows you to cast a wider net; choosing some genes that may be expressed at a lower level or that have a differential expression ratio less than 2-fold. The OpenArray platform identifies differentially expressed genes below the sensitivity threshold of common chip and bead-based microarray platforms.
