Validation of DNA array results is one of the most common uses of qPCR. Generally, with tedious plate-based systems researchers need to narrow their focus to keep projects to a manageable size. Using OpenArray to validate microarray hits allows you to cast a wider net; choosing genes that may be expressed at a lower level or that have a differential expression ratio less than 2-fold.
It has been shown that the OpenArray platform identifies differentially expressed genes below the sensitivity threshold of common chip and bead-based microarray platforms. The OpenArray Pathways panels allow you to use the OpenArray platform in a discovery mode; uncovering differentially expressed genes. Let's put the hypothesis back into research, and perform hypothesis-dependent expression profiling experiements.
