OpenArray™ technology is a broadly applicable nanoliter fluidics technology platform for massively parallel and low-volume solution-phase reactions including analysis of genetic, genomic, proteomic, biochemical, and cellular samples. Researchers using this technology benefit from the parallelism of microarrays and the data quality of solution-phase reactions, such as PCR.

OpenArray™ technology enables researchers to perform over 3000 assays on one OpenArray™ plate. One OpenArray™ has 3072 OpenArray™'s in a microscope slide-sized plate. In our current generation of products, each OpenArray™ is 300 µm in diameter with a depth of 300 µm. The OpenArray™s are arranged in 48 sub-arrays of 64 holes.
Proprietary processes are used to coat the surfaces of the arrays so that they are hydrophobic, while rendering the interiors hydrophilic and biocompatible. Thus, 3072 separate assays containing 33-nl of fluid may be loaded into the OpenArray™ plate. Liquid is held in the OpenArray™ plates by means of surface tension.
