Business Development Veteran to Spearhead Continued Financial and IT Infrastructure Growth
Woburn, MA, November 7, 2007 - BioTrove, Inc. today announced the addition of Jeffrey C. Leathe to its executive management team as Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Leathe brings to BioTrove more than 25 years' global experience building and leading finance and business functions for a diverse range of private and public companies. His responsibilities at BioTrove will include oversight of all financial functions and IT infrastructure development.
Jeff's broad experience and notable success in developing both start-up and large public companies for growth make him a perfect fit for BioTrove, said Albert A. Luderer, Ph.D., President and CEO, BioTrove. As a growing company, Jeff's insight and perspective will provide us with invaluable guidance as we expand our market presence.
Before joining BioTrove, Mr. Leathe served as Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for Apogent Technologies, a formerly NYSE-listed manufacturer of life science and clinical diagnostic instruments and consumables. Jeff has directly managed numerous life science companies around the globe and has been a key driver of acquisitions and related public financings in excess of $3 billion in the life sciences space.
BioTrove growth continues to pick up speed - we just signed a major co-marketing deal with Agilent, and established nine major academic and industry research collaborations during the past nine months, said Robert H. Ellis, Executive Chairman, BioTrove. Jeff joins our team at an exciting time, and we look forward to his guidance as our business and financial requirements grow.
Prior to Apogent, Mr. Leathe held executive positions at Prime Computer, Congoleum Industries, and GTE. About BioTrove, Inc.
BioTrove, Inc. offers two innovative technology platforms: RapidFire™, which enables the acceleration of drug discovery and pipeline decisions, and OpenArray™, which advances genomic research in a wide range of life science fields, including agriculture, disease research, bio-defense, and public health. With more than half of the world's ten largest pharmaceutical companies as clients, and partnerships with prestigious research and public health centers around the world, BioTrove's products and services ensure that an industry committed to accuracy and speed can meet business goals.
RapidFire™ Mass Spectrometry (RFMS) uses an innovative microfluidic technology to facilitate analysis at faster than 10 seconds per sample, eliminating the bottleneck created by traditional mass spectrometry throughput. RFMS is routinely used in many applications including the high-throughput screening of previously intractable drug targets, cytochrome P450 inhibition and other ADME assays and directed evolution studies.
The OpenArray™ Platform enables genomics researchers to generate SNP and real time qPCR data in the hundreds of thousands of data points per day, significantly increasing the number of samples analyzed while significantly decreasing the time and cost required. The flexible format and nanoliter scale of the OpenArray™ system allows for easy adjustment of sample and assay numbers, achieving economical, high-throughput genomics.
