Momentum technology to be presented at Screentech World Summit
Woburn, MA, March 22, 2004Momentum, a business unit of BioTrove, Inc., announced its first contract with an undisclosed, large pharmaceutical company to develop screening assays for intractable drug targets. The details of the contract and size of the deal were not disclosed. Momentum is BioTrove’s proprietary screening service designed to enhance the efficiency and quality of drug discovery efforts by removing assay development as a barrier to target selection. By unlocking the value of intractable targets, Momentum provides its customers with an important competitive advantage in the search for new molecules with novel mechanisms of action.
“Some of the most biologically promising targets are not pursued for drug discovery by pharmaceutical companies because of the time, cost and complexity of developing a high throughput assay, a problem that Momentum is designed to address,” said Can Cemil Özbal, Ph.D., Program Manager of Momentum Screening. “This partnership validates the strength of our Momentum Screening Service and its role in leading the next generation of breakthrough drug discovery efforts.”
Dr. Özbal, will present data supporting the Momentum Screening Service at the Screentech World Summit, being held in San Diego from March 22-24. In addition, Momentum will be exhibiting at booth number 39 in the exhibition hall, where Dr. Özbal will be available to answer questions and provide additional information about the screening service.
