Purchase strengthens BioTroves IP position in through-hole array
technology
Woburn, MA, September 26, 2003BioTrove, Inc. today announced the purchase of an intellectual property portfolio
covering through-hole array technology from Genencor International Inc.
(GCOR). The portfolio includes several issued patents and multiple patent
filings in the United States and overseas. The issued and pending claims
augments and strengthens BioTrove's existing through-hole array patent
portfolio with new method and device claims. BioTrove employs a through-hole
array technology for its Living Chip
platform, a massively parallel liquid handling system of nanoliter samples
for genomic, proteomic and high throughput screening and storage applications.
According to Dr. Colin J.H. Brenan,
President and Chief Executive Officer of BioTrove, "BioTrove has
greatly strengthened its competitive position in nanofluidic through-hole
array technology with the purchase of the GCOR IP portfolio. We are poised
to become the leader in nanofluidic technology for the life sciences."
