Software/Embedded Systems Engineer

BioTrove is a cutting edge biotechnology company offering researchers the latest in high throughput technologies. We're seeking a Software/Embedded Systems Engineer who will design new and improve existing instrument control and data analysis software systems in a laboratory setting.

The successful candidate will have the following characteristics:

Required Experience

• 3+ years hands-on commercial experience developing complex electro-mechanical automation systems
• 3+ years commercial software development experience in a team-programming context on MS Windows systems using Visual Basic, C#, Java or C++

Preferred Experience

• Experience using TCP/IP protocol and socket interfaces for distributed control
• Experience developing software for image processing
• Experience supporting one or more types of lab research such as Genomic and/or Proteomic studies

Soft skills required:

• Team player, possess excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent conceptual and problem solving abilities

The Software Engineer will be responsible for:

• Designing new and improving existing instrument control systems
• Supporting research engineers in a laboratory setting by translating user requirements into functional specifications, design documents, deployment plans and user documentation
• Identifying common cross-project development goals and coordinating project designs to maximize code reusability and maintainability
• Using common coding, anomaly tracking, project status reporting, version control and software development standards
