
Senior Engineer

The Sr. Engineering directs and coordinates the development of BioTrove's precision instrumentation. The individual will work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing personnel to develop and document process for program execution. The successful candidate will be a high performance hands-on Mechanical or Electrical Engineer with significant project management experience. Special consideration will be given to those candidates who have led the development of high precision motion systems, vision and/or optical alignment techniques, and nanofluidic technology. Additional consideration will be given to those individuals with expertise and experience with the FDA Quality System Regulations for product approval and GMP compliance. In this challenging position, the successful candidate will join a dynamic multidisciplinary team of engineers and scientists commercializing BioTrove's proprietary technology.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Perform systems engineering, optical, electrical and mechanical design
- Build and test feasibility models and prototype systems to demonstrate system capabilities.
- Conduct experiments to verify key system performance characteristics
- Manage out-sourced system development including preparing detailed specifications, and reviewing vendor designs
- Interface with manufacturing, R & D, marketing and support groups
- Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to approve and deploy ECOs
- Instrumentation development from concept to manufacturing
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred)
- Minimum 5 years experience in related areas instrumentation and automated systems development and management
- Systems engineering skills
- Experience with mechanical (SolidWorks preferred) and/or electrical (ORCAD preferred) and/or Optical design packages
- Experience in the biotechnology or biomedical industry with exposure to optical, electrical and mechanical systems
- Experience with microfluidic system development and design
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- QSR and GMP Compliance experience
- Superior communication, organization and planning skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a cross-functional group
- Must be hands-on engineer
