Manufacturing Associate – Consumable Production

The Manufacturing Associate performs the various tasks necessary to produce BioTrove's OpenArray™ consumable products. These tasks include performing manual processes and operating custom-built machinery in a production environment to create proprietary coatings on OpenArray™ plates. They also include running commercial robotic systems and using proprietary robotics to format tests onto the plates. Finally, they involve assembly and test of precision parts and bottling of fluids. The work also includes packaging intermediate and final products. All tasks require following detailed protocols and carefully documenting results. The qualified candidate will be an excellent communicator, and a conscientious and meticulous worker who can learn quickly. While programming skills are not required, familiarity with computers and the Windows environment is needed. Experience in handling chemicals in a chemistry laboratory and knowledge of safety in a laboratory environment are required.

Primary Responsibilities

• Execute manual and automated chemistry processes for chip coating using specified materials, laboratory equipment, and custom machinery.
• Operate commercial robotic systems to prepare intermediate plates for use in final chip loading.
• Operate proprietary robotic systems to load tests onto chips.
• Assemble precision components using manual operations and semi-automated equipment.
• Bottle fluids in single use vials and multiple use containers.
• Produce chemical solutions and mixtures needed for operations.
• Package intermediate and final products for inventory stocking.
• Assist in developing operating methods and writing procedures.
• Follow written operating procedures.
• Complete batch records to document production processes.

Qualifications

• A. S. in Chemistry or Biotechnology (or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years of experience performing chemical processes in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with computers and the Windows environment is needed.
• Experience with surface coating chemistry and/or commercial or proprietary robotics for biological or chemical processes is a plus.
• Capable of lifting and carrying 30 pounds.
• Must be organized, meticulous, and willing to learn.
• Must have good communication skills.
• Must be willing to work overtime and second shifts.
