In its mission to develop revolutionary microliter and nanoliter scale technology platforms, BioTrove is continually developing new applications, such as the ones listed below. BioTrove welcomes the opportunity to collaborate with other organizations on these or other projects.
Pathogen Detection. BioTrove is combining genetically specific DNA hybridization capture with qPCR detection. This technology may be used to detect environmental pathogens for biodefense applications or detect pathogens in clinical settings.
ELISA Testing. We have developed direct, sandwich, and competition ELISA assays on the OpenArray™ platform using a wide selection of commercial and proprietary reagents. OpenArray™ plates enable researchers to detect individual proteins within a single through-hole from complex samples. The end result is miniaturization of traditional ELISA protocols with unlimited multiplexability. OpenArray™ technology combines the convenience, simplicity, low volume, protein concentration, and multiplex functionalities of a microarray while preserving the sensitivity and specificity of a single analyte ELISA.
Protein-Protein Interaction. Homogenous and heterogenous protein-protein interactions have been performed on the OpenArray™ platform. We plan to continue development in the protein array area.
Cell-Based Assays. Through-Hole technology provides a unique ability to perform high-throughput low-volume cell-based assays on either adherent or suspended cells and cell lines for drug discovery or protein engineering applications. Benefits of such miniaturized cell-based assays include high throughput with minimal capital expense, cell and reagent savings, the ability to work with primary cell isolates, and highly uniform tailored microenviroments. Cell-based assays may potentially be combined with other capabilities, such as PCR, qPCR, or ELISA readout.
